Woodville Model Building Weekend - Matariki
June turned out to be a busy month for the VCC team with the last of the prepping for the Weekend, but we got settled in and we were “off to the races”. Once again there was a wide range of scales and vintages with locos, rolling stock, buildings, line side infrastructure and scenery all being worked on.
We all enjoyed catching up and seeing what everyone was working on. As with last year the help, advice and banter flowed up and down the room. The display space was also taken full advantage off, which reflected what was being worked on in the room. It offered a great excuse to stretch your legs while eating cake or having a chat about what was in there.
We were also impressed to see what the Woodville Railway Station trust’s small team of volunteers have achieved in the year since we were last there. The most significant of which was the walls and ceilings now having new pink bats and Jib on them, to spite the Manawatu wind it was warmer in the station. Thanks again to all those attending this year it really helps the Trust out.
The station has also been missing its station sign for many years, which Michael Kilgour (one of our fellow model builders) took it upon himself to rectify, some of the group put their skills to good use to help him erect it onto the building for the trust. Well done to Michael it looks fantastic.
